First Impressions
This book is another one of the many textbook cookbooks I have used in my culinary classes although this one stood out to me. This book is full of recipes that do not end on the ingredient list. Well written and labeled recipes making it quick and easy to find something that fits diet restrictions and personal preference.
Recipes Tested
Twice Baked Potatoes before I put them in the oven for the final bake
Twice Baked Potatoes — This recipe was flavor packed and customizable with different combinations of toppings you can use to make the potatoes your own.
Spanish Tortilla —Takes eggs up a notch in flavor and a very quick and simple recipe.
Batter Fried Vegetables— This recipe is another example of customizable but informative providing all the information on how to cook and season but giving you creativity to choose the veggies.
Pros
This book has color coded labeling that is amazing for people with special diets as it makes it very quick to spot GF, V… labels!
The book is split into sections which helps quickly locate types of recipes
Recipes are clearly written
Details are given in instructions and types of ingredients.
There are pages on how to use specific vegetables for example mushrooms. I found a page that breaks down the types of mushrooms and how to use them.
Cons
There could have been more photography in this book
Helpful blocks in the book with teaching tips
Final Thoughts
This book is not expenisive and gives many yummy easy to read recipes to try. It encourages vegetables which should be a big part of the daily diet which is amazing. I would reccomend this book to any type of cook new or experienced.
